How to Calculate Weekly Paid Leave Compensation
-
Weekly Rest Day: By law, workers are entitled to an uninterrupted rest period of at least 24 hours (1 day) within a 7-day week, which is known as a weekly rest day. The worker will receive pay for this rest day even though they are not working. This payment is required even though the worker does not perform work on the rest day. However, if the worker works on the rest day (i.e., works all 7 days of the week), they should receive a daily wage as compensation for the rest day, plus an additional 1.5 daily wages for the overtime work, totaling 2.5 daily wages. For example, if the worker's daily wage is 200 TL and they work on their rest day, they would be entitled to 500 TL, which includes the additional 300 TL for working on the rest day.

Basis for Calculation: Weekly paid leave compensation is calculated based on the net wage, not the gross wage. Therefore, additional allowances and benefits are not included in this calculation.

Calculation for Different Years: If the weekly paid leave compensation pertains to different years, the calculation should be based on the wage applicable during each specific period. This means the rest day wages are calculated based on the wages for the period in which the work was performed. It is incorrect to calculate based on the most recent wage. For accurate calculation, the wages for each relevant period must be entered separately.
